| Insurance companies of the Czech Republic pay their clients for the attempts to quit smoking
Leading Czech medical insurance companies plan to support the attempts of their clients to quit smoking. The biggest company in this field VZP is ready to promote financially the aspiration of Czech people for giving up smoking. Since 1st of May, 2007, Medical Insurance Company of Czech Home Office has been paid clients for medical preparations, which help to quit harmful habit.
In Czech Republic, the population of which is about 10,5 mln people, there are about 2,5 mln. smokers. More than half of them want to quit smoking, however, not everybody manage to do this. In a year, approximately million people in the Czech Republic try to give up smoking; only 50 thousand of them achieve their aim.
Young people from 15 to 18, predominantly girls, are smokers in this country. Several years ago, the anti tobacco law was put into force. According to this law, local authorities have rights to apply restrictions on smoking in public places. The most stringent laws are in Ostrava city. Here, the people who smoke at bus stops, are fined.
